i did not expect to be dragged out of my dwelling at midnight to be ridiculed and ashamed by a knock-off basil into joining their forest village but life is unexpectable

she had me at 2000s cartoons, she didn't need to bring up my lack of caring friends (/j

Pretty apprehensive about joining SUS, but, considering everything, I think they're literally perfect. It's just.......... what about my anime.............. (also the dialogue in the middle ending's pretty powerful. Love it.)

Thank you for making this!!

I'ts creepy and fun. My only problem is the bgm it's too loud, I can't hear her voice well.

(+1)

Sorry, I know this comment is 3 months old, but I had this issue too. I went into the preferences shortly after starting and turned the background music down to hear her better :)

What an interesting litlte one this was.
So often when games deal with cult, we go all out horror and end up seeing the aftermath of a cult already having done something terrible, or being in the process of summoning something, or so forth It is rare to see the more manipulative aspects on display - especially with a sprinkle of humor here and there!

Big props to the artist, and to the voice actress, as both do a great job being just a little too cheerful and just a bit unnerving. Very nice stuff.

I do wish that the game had some unique grapghics for the three endings, as that woul dmake it feel a bit more complete, but I understand this was a Jam game, and time was short. Still, I enjoyed this one, and put it in this giant scary games compilation for Halloween. Very nice work!

(+2)

I don't even live in California, but I really want to join SUS :(

(+3)

"you dont even get along with your family" HOW TF DID SHE KNOW??

(+1)

I was kinda hoping it'd go "The Ring" for a moment.

(+3)

wow I'd like to go to the middle of nowhere because a person named SUS told me about through TV by letting someone capture me at a specific place at LA

(+3)

Where is the number I need to call to contact SUS so they can pick me up?

(+2)

Got all endings! Amazing game. The one that curses was funny to me.

(+1)

Very interesting concept for sure, the voice acting was great as well, I only wish there was a bit more than just that screen of her talking but aside that it was neat, got all the endings, good work :)

(+2)

Happiness does exist! All you have to do is give up your soul and life to the SUS.

(+1)

woah- I loved the game, the voice acting was so good and the idea was really interesting! The sprites were really good, this is a 10/10 for me :D

(+4)

so i actually really enjoyed this and thought it was very well worded and i enjoyed the fact the tv was voice acted lol, but the one thing i was really gutted on with this game are the endings, you get next to no information on the period after your decisions, and i would like more information on "cultivating happiness" clearly something is every wrong there so give us some lore on that, like give us a cut scene, or some dialog after each ending and what happened next, like i just feel like the game was so well made but lacked the time and effort put into the endings, but all in all fantastic game, interested to see whats next, gameplay above if you enjoy be sure to hit that sub button guys!

oh dang this was nice :D i loved it and it kinda triggered my ranting side so sorry for that but i hope you enjoy the vid nonetheless :)

(+5)

Ah what a great game - the concept is so creepy and fun, the visuals are so deceptively cute (but then start to feel increasingly worrisome) and your voice acting is absolutely on point! I also liked the way you injected so much personality into the possible player responses – the word limit of the jam is quite tricky so it was clever to combine character work into the menu function.

The art and sprite expressions are really delightful – I think the squint-eyes smile on ‘capable of many things’ is probably my favourite… Brr! And yeah, honestly I might be up for joining if I got such a beautiful flowercrown, it was really that which sold it.

I rate this ten out of ten enticing flowercrowns.

this review is spot on only thing i would change is your rating, not because it isn't a 10/10 game because gameplay definitely is, i just would of loved to see more after the endings, like some dialog or lore, or a cut scene, like we know something is wrong with this "cult" but i would of loved some backstory, but then again i didn't know it was a game jam game, and they only have a specific amount of time, hopefully we get more updates after that! but yea great review man!

(1 edit) (+3)

The art if you dont pay much attention (like in my first playthrough) doesnt seem that creepy but as you advance in the game it gave that eerie vibe especially the eyes. The voice acting was amazing since it gave the vibe of a salesman who is there to sell you an idea but doent care about your necesities. The ending match the logical consecuences of your choices and it was a fluid conversation. Amazing game!

(+5)

SUS sounds...suspicious

among us

(+2)

Dang, the girl on the TV was so eerie with that smile, the art was amazing to be able to convey such an eerie feeling. Not only that, but I feel like this premise is a breath of fresh air in such cult stories with a supernatural twist. Also the voice acting was wonderful, it truly felt inviting but also off-putting. It perfectly matched with the art! Amazing job!

(+1)

I'm a huge sucker for cult horror stories, amazing game.

(+4)

The friendly "recruiting" vibe with creepy implications is so spot on. Very well written.

(+2)

Really neat little idea! Every element fits well to tell this creepy story.

(+1)

NOT joining the cult, but anyway nice endings

(+3)

Really creepy idea for a visual novel, and great work by the voice actor. The voice really had the creepy cult infomercial with the sweet words. It really works with the convincing words and the red flags of the cult being told in such a direct way. I think if I ever heard the TV talking to me directly the TV remote would be through the screen before I would realise.
(+2)

I really liked it. I think if the different endings were expanded and gave more context, then the game would be much better. What happens to us if we join the SUS camp? Great work either way!

(+1)

This is why I don't watch TV anymore LOL. Love it.
